Inspired by a recent drive through Ulupalakua, the movement of the rolling hills and the wispy clouds that seemed to linger momentarily before passing on over the ocean. The flowers are the endemic Nohoanu flower which can only be found in Haleakalā and are made to look light and airy like the clouds that sweep the mountain. My favorite time of year in Ulupalakua is when the Jacaranda trees are blooming and contrasting over the hillside. Painted on white oak using India ink and acrylics. -Jackie Sabado-Eitel
